Unlike traditional software engineers, they focus on enabling machines to generate new, original content—including text, code, images, audio, and video—by bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI research and production-ready enterprise applications. Generative artificial intelligence, or generative AI for short, is a part of artificial intelligence that uses special models to create things like text, pictures, videos, sounds, computer code, and other types of data. These models understand the patterns and structures in the data they were trained on, and then use that knowledge to create new data based on what they are asked, usually in the form of written instructions.

The use of generative AI tools has grown a lot since the AI boom in the 2020s. This growth happened because of better deep neural networks, especially large language models (LLMs), which use the transformer architecture.
